VitalSigns Alerts & Notifications
You can create alert definitions to receive a variety of alerts (i.e. dead mail, not responding, disk space low, etc.) pertaining to the overall status of your environment.
IT Managers can configure alerting options such as: Advanced Alerting, Persistent Alerts, Alert Limits and SNMP Listeners from the Alert Settings page. Email Alerting, SMS/Text Alerting and Recurring Alert Options can also be configured with the Alert Settings page.
All scripts and commands can be managed from the Alerts Scripts page where IT managers can add new scripts, edit existing scripts as well as delete existing scripts.
The Alerts History page provides a detailed view of all alerts that were created, sent, and cleared. The Notification Sent Date indicates when the alert was sent (if applicable) and the Event Dismissed Date indicates when the alert/issue was resolved.
Why should I be monitoring my IBM Connections environment?
A main focus for most IBM Connections admins is maintaining optimal performance to ensure that end-users are receiving the best possible QoS. Without an additional monitoring solution like VitalSigns, admins will lack the ability to proactively identify and mitigate performance degradation that will inevitably disrupt the overall user experience.
Can VitalSigns identify trends from historical data?
Yes. VitalSigns gathers both performance and user activity metrics and then visualizes those metrics in charts and graphs as well as reports featuring trends over time.
How difficult is the VitalSigns installation process?
It’s not difficult at all actually. VitalSigns uses the native Notes client to gather all metrics and for all testing so nothing is required to be installed on the Domino servers.
What does the VitalSigns pricing model look like?
VitalSigns offers a simple pricing model based strictly off the number of servers you want VitalSigns to monitor and report on within the organization. There is no per user pricing and there are no additional modules that need to be purchased.
How does VitalSigns boost adoption rates?
The insights on user activity provided by VitalSigns allows IT managers to identify how individual users are engaging and interacting within your IBM Connections environment. These insights are invaluable for managers looking to define user groups, to identify roadblocks to change and to construct or optimize their social business adoption plan.
Does VitalSigns monitor the underlying components of IBM Connections?
Yes. VitalSigns monitors and reports on anything that directly affects the performance of the IBM Connections infrastructure. This includes the various components of WebSphere such as nodes, memory, heap size, thread count, disk space, etc.
Can VitalSigns automatically send notifications?
Yes. IT managers can easily configure alerts using VitalSigns’ existing scripts or they can upload their own custom alert scripts. Each configured alert has custom notification settings with the ability to send alarms and reports to multiple users based on time or location.
What other technologies does VitalSigns monitor?
VitalSigns monitoring and reporting dives deep into both IBM and Microsoft collaboration technologies. On the IBM side, VitalSigns monitors Connections, Notes/Domino, WebSphere, Traveler and Sametime. On the Microsoft side, VitalSigns monitors Office 365, Exchange (including DAG), SharePoint, OneDrive and Skype for Business.
See What a VitalSigns User Has to Say
Before we purchased VitalSigns our organization lacked the ability to perform two crucial functions: to assist with monitoring journal databases which is essential for compliance requirements and to proactively alert on all of our critical IT systems.
One of the main reasons we started using VitalSigns was so that the Administrators could be alerted when our systems were failing before our users would contact the Help Desk. This allows the Administrators to pro-actively update the Help Desk so that when the user calls it is no surprise, and we can give informed updates back to the users. Overseeing a large IT system 24/7 can be a very daunting task, but it is a lot easier these days with VitalSigns acting as a right hand by always watching our systems and alerting me by email or text if anything abnormal happens.
After purchasing VitalSigns we discovered that the tool would also help our organization with monitoring critical databases, which is a necessary component to our email compliance solution. VitalSigns ability to monitor and alert all the way down to the database level is critical to our requirement for journaling databases. VitalSigns ensures that all items are being processed and that we are meeting our compliance requirements.
